Saturday is Social Justice Day
The United Nations set February 20 as “World Day of Social Justice”
That’s tomorrow, so we’re giving you a “heads up.”
Now, if you watch the news, you already know all the problems in our city, state, nation, and world.
It can drive you crazy. It can make you feel helpless.
Despite that– there are things YOU can do to increase social justice.
And lucky for you, our church has not one– but two teams of people.
Team One: Activism
The first one looks for Activism Opportunities. They scout around for the rest of us for chances to partner with others.
Usually, these are local, regional, and national advocacy groups. We can learn about issues and the most effective means to bring about change.
We call this Team the Church in Society board. And you can read more about that here: https://www.fcc-houston.org/activism/
Team Two: Service
The second team focuses more on getting YOU opportunities to do Direct Service. Things like making sandwiches for hungry kids (Kids Meals, Inc) or stocking a food pantry.
Our members and friends often donate money and/or volunteer their time. This makes an immediate impact for social justice.
We call this Team the Missions board. There are a LARGE number of opportunities available to YOU here: https://www.fcc-houston.org/missions/
Be sure to scroll all the way down!
If you want to honor World Social Justice Day in a meaningful way, you can donate money and/or volunteer your time.
A couple hours of your time can make a huge difference.
Not just in the life of a stranger, but in your own life.
Our two Social Justice Teams publish opportunities for you. You
do a couple of good deeds.
All the while, having fun with like-minded folks. You might even make a new friend.
Pick an opportunity. Give it a test drive. Isn’t it time to get out of the house?
If you want to be a “good” person, you have to do “good” deeds. It’s that simple.
#WorldSocialJusticeDay is the hashtag.
We’re rooting for you!
