Judges 19:22-29, the horrific murder of a concubine, is a text meant for a mature audience. You should know it can bring-up painful feelings and memories.
The story of the unnamed concubine is an indictment on religious communities and their callous treatment of those who exist on the margins.
The focus of my sermon is not to redeem this text but to provide a critique on Christianity (and by extension all religions) after Easter.
Christian leaders must confess where we have failed people in order for the church to be a sacred space for all.
