In the Congregational tradition, a church is not a building or a parish but a fellowship of believers united by a shared covenant. Several times each year we welcome new members during Sunday worship and ask them to sign the church covenant. At FCC, we use a variant of the Salem Covenant of 1629, which reads:
We covenant with the Lord and one with another; and do bind ourselves in the presence of God, to walk together in all God’s ways, according as revealed to us in God’s blessed word of truth.
Throughout the year we have New Member Dinners where recently joined members and those considering membership can learn more about the governance and history of FCC and our denomination, the United Church of Christ. If you have any questions about membership at FCC, contact our Senior Minister.
