The perfect church?
The picture of the church at the end of Acts 4 (Acts 4:32-35) is a wholly unrealistic one. So much so that we have think about what to make of it.
The text in Acts was written many years after likely at a time when the church had many divisions. This intentionally nostalgic text that hearkens to a mythical era is intended as a performative text.
It doesn’t represent reality but the reality that the church has always aspired to. How does the power of this text in that context speak to us?
Where does it push us? How does it transform us?
What do we need to learn for the post-pandemic church?
