Krysia serves as FCC’s Interim Director of Christian Education, overseeing a highly regarded faith formation program that encompasses learning and enrichment for babies and toddlers through senior high and adults.
Like many of our Congregants, Krysia grew up outside of the Congregational tradition as a Catholic. She came to the United Church of Christ as an immigrant from Canada to Chapel Hill where she spent 10 years in various ministries including a production of Godspell, the Children’s and Youth Ministries, the Board of Trustees, the Capital Campaign Committee and as Assistant Moderator. She was active in the local PTAs serving as Treasurer and President at the Council level advocating for the education of all children. She also volunteers with organizations that promote human rights and justice including the Rothko Chapel, help the poor like MAM, and that feed the hungry like the Houston Food Bank. She loves to cook and enjoys working with the soup kitchen group on Saturdays and frequents the Memorial Villages Farmers’ Market regularly.
Krysia received her BASc in Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemisty at the University of Toronto and her MBA from McMaster University in Operations Research before becoming a CPA. She has worked as the General Manager of a heavy industrial manufacturer and the CFO of a start-up pharmaceutical development company and has now entered the “meaningful work” phase of her life.
This summer, Krysia became certified as a Godly Play. Krysia and her spouse are the happy parents of two only children: Daniel, who studies at the University of Toronto and Aaron, who participates in Godly Play and on the playground here at FCC.
