Adult Christian Education at FCC focuses on spiritual formation and social justice, as we believe that both inform our liberal understanding of Christianity. Our FCC 101, 102, and 103 courses, offered throughout the year, are foundational classes that focus on theology, the Bible, and Christian history, respectively. Other classes include focused study on Revised Common Lectionary texts or other pertinent Bible passages.
First Congregational Church members are active in social justice efforts in Houston. Guest speakers from local agencies/organizations are frequently invited to speak on topics related to their areas of expertise. Topics covered in these classes include but are not limited to LGBTQ activism, environmental awareness, immigration, and political engagement at the local and state levels.
