Endowment Board: Application Process

An Endowment Board grant application may be from an individual or 501(c)3 organization and must be aligned with the religious and charitable work of First Congregational Church.  Endowment money may not be used to advance legislation or fund political causes.  The applicant should secure a grant application from the office of the church during normal working hours or from one of the Board members.  The application must be endorsed by one of the churches’ governing Boards or Committees most closely aligned with the purpose of the grant request.  For example, a grant request from Westside Homeless Partnership should be endorsed by the Board of Missions.  It is up to the applicant to secure this endorsement by contacting the presiding officer of the appropriate FCC Board or Committee.  Board members may not initiate grant applications, and they must recuse themselves from votes about applications in which they have an interest.  The funds should also not be requested for purposes more appropriately covered by the church budget.
