Sisters of Mary Magdalene is an informal women's group
that is named for Mary Magdalene, the first person to see the risen Christ,
and the woman who is known as "the Apostle to the Apostles." The Mary Mag's
began in 1995 as a small group of women who met after church to explore the
feminine face of God by reading through a book by that name.
Having found support and a real bond in their search for women's
spirituality, they have continued to read and enjoy good times and wonderful
meals together. As they evolve, they share thoughts, beliefs and faith.
They have shared their journey with the congregation on two occasions
thus far. One of their services was on the many images of God, the other was
creation spirituality. New members who seek to broaden their ideas of God
and their own place in the world are welcome.
The group meets monthly to share a meal and our spiritual journeys and
expand our experience of the divine in our lives. The group has read such
books as The Feminine Face of God, Women Who Run with the Wolves, The
Magdalene Gospel, and Original Blessing.
A variety of events are planned for the summer months. In July the
group will share supper at The Olive Garden on Gessner. Contact Jill
Radelat for information.
We are open to all women who want to study, grow, and share their
experiences with others.
