In the Congregational tradition, a church is not a building or a parish but a fellowship of believers united by a shared covenant. To join First Congregational Church, you first need to learn about how the church works in one of our New Member classes or in a meeting with the minister. Several times each year we welcome new members during Sunday worship and ask them to sign the church covenant. At FCC, we use the Salem Covenant of 1629, which reads:
We covenant with the Lord and one with another; and do bind ourselves in the presence of God, to walk together in all his ways, according as he is pleased to reveal himself to us in his blessed word of truth.
