Associate Minister
Fills Christian Education Job
Called to serve as associate
minister for Christian Education January 13, the Reverend Michael Richter
has a fine background for his new position. At First Congregational, he'll
be working with all levels of Christian education, from nursery through
adult.
The children – and their
parents – will benefit from his experience as Associate Minister for
Children's Ministries at Bethany Christian Church in Houston.
After graduation from seminary
in May 1995, he was resident chaplain at a retirement home in Corpus
Christi.
Service to people between
youngest and oldest came after ordination in June, 1996, during pastorates
in Amarillo, Texas, Oklahoma and Iowa.
Michael was ordained to
ministry in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), after graduation
from Brite Divinity School, Texas Christian University, in Fort Worth. His
elective course work focused on pastoral care and Christian education.
At Stephen F. Austin State
University in Nacogdoches, he majored in sociology and minored in business.
A fourth-generation
Galvestonian and an identical twin (the older twin, he likes to point out),
Michael is a sports fan and also likes to play the piano, sing, cook, read
and spend time with friends and his brother's family, a half-sister and his
mother.
