Description of Endowment Funds

Non-restricted Fund- Encompasses approximately half of the total amount available for award in a given year. In recent years, awards from this fund have primarily been directed to outreach.  Past award recipients have included: The MAM Back-to-School uniform program; The Westside Homeless Partnership; ODECO a nonprofit development corporation in Honduras and Clay Road YMCA.

Paul Tucker Landscape Fund - Awards are made specifically for landscaping projects on the FCC campus.

Teich Fund-Awards from this fund are limited to support of seminaries and seminary students.  Past awards have included tuition support for individual students as well as gifts to Chicago, Eden and United Seminaries.

The Greacen World Peace Fund-This fund is restricted for projects that, in the judgment of the Board, advance the goal of attaining world peace.  Awards have been made to Houston Peace and Justice Center, Amnesty International, Texans Against Gun Violence and others.  The Peace Pole on the FCC campus was erected with money from this fund.

The Dyess Fund-Improvement of the external appearance of the buildings and the landscaping on the FCC campus is the goal of awards made from this fund.  The Mayflower mosaic over the Peace Pole garden was partially funded from this source.

The RH Tucker Fund-This fund is used to fund salary for a SALT worker (Student Adult Leadership Training) at FCC. To qualify, the student should be college age with a desire to explore ministry or Christian Education as a vocation.  Teaching children’s Sunday school, assisting with Vacation Bible School and helping with the daily work of the church are among the responsibilities of the position. The student will also experience social service outreach by spending part of the summer as a volunteer with an organization like Memorial Assistance Ministries.  The fund may also be used for special projects that may be proposed by the Senior Minister.

The MR Tucker Fund-This is the largest of the restricted funds.  It is used for three purposes: underwriting Meeting House Concerts; commissioning original compositions for choir, organ and handbell; funding FCC music internships in Church Music for a music major at one of the Houston universities with an accredited music department.  Our 2006 intern was Brian Kosier, who obtained  a master's degree at the University of Houston, and who has been an active member of our Choir ever since.

The Christian Education Fund-This fund exists largely as a result of the outstanding success of the church-produced hymnal, Hymns of Truth and Light.  It is used to fund various Christian Education projects.

F. Woodward Prize Fund- Awards may are made per year based on recommendations from the faculty at Moore's School of Music at University of Houston.  One award is for outstanding talent and accomplishment in composition.  The other award is made for outstanding organ performance.
