Non-restricted Fund- Encompasses approximately half of the total amount available for award
in a given year. In recent years, awards from this fund have
primarily been directed to outreach. Past award recipients have
included: The MAM Back-to-School uniform program; The Westside
Homeless Partnership; ODECO a nonprofit development corporation in
Honduras and Clay Road YMCA.
Paul Tucker
Landscape Fund - Awards
are made specifically for landscaping projects on the FCC campus.
Teich Fund-Awards
from this fund are limited to support of seminaries and seminary
students. Past awards have included tuition support for
individual students as well as gifts to Chicago, Eden and United
Seminaries.
The Greacen
World Peace Fund-This
fund is restricted for projects that, in the judgment of the
Board, advance the goal of attaining world peace. Awards have
been made to Houston Peace and Justice Center, Amnesty
International, Texans Against Gun Violence and others. The Peace
Pole on the FCC campus was erected with money from this fund.
The Dyess
Fund-Improvement of the
external appearance of the buildings and the landscaping on the
FCC campus is the goal of awards made from this fund. The
Mayflower mosaic over the Peace Pole garden waspartially funded from this source.
The RH
Tucker Fund-This fund is used to fund salary for a SALT worker (Student Adult
Leadership Training) at FCC. To qualify, the student should be
college age with a desire to explore ministry or Christian
Education as a vocation. Teaching children’s Sunday school,
assisting with Vacation Bible School and helping with the daily
work of the church are among the responsibilities of the position.
The student will also experience social service outreach by
spending part of the summer as a volunteer with an organization
like Memorial Assistance Ministries. The fund may also be used
for special projects that may be proposed by the Senior Minister.
The MR
Tucker Fund-This is the largest of the restricted funds. It is used for three
purposes: underwriting Meeting House Concerts; commissioning
original compositions for choir, organ and handbell; funding FCC
music internships in Church Music for a music major at one of the
Houston universities with an accredited music department. Our
2006 intern was Brian Kosier, who obtained a master's degree at the University of Houston, and who
has been an active member of our Choir ever since.
The
Christian Education Fund-This
fund exists largelyas a result of
the outstanding success of the church-produced hymnal, Hymns of
Truth and Light. It is used to fund various Christian
Education projects.
F. Woodward
Prize Fund- Awards may
are made per year based on recommendations from the faculty at
Moore's School of Music at University of Houston. One award is
for outstanding talent and accomplishment in composition. The
other award is made for outstanding organ performance.
